Hooking a Brush Glider on its side can increase strikes!
As a Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Guide, I love to use Bone Head tackle when we are hunting for slabs on the water. But one of the things we find best when sniping these larger roaming crappie is hooking the brush glider on it's side. We accomplish two different things by hooking it this way. First, it changes up the profile giving a big fat target for when we drop it right in it's face. That fatter and appealing profile helps, because of the muddy waters we fish that limits the crappie's vision. Second, it cuts back on resistance, allowing us to get that jig down in those deeper waters faster. This has been pretty helpful when targeting a large single crappie, while being pushed around by current and winds.
